Power Integrity Control of ATE for Emulating Power Supply Fluctuations on Customer Environment

Summary This article proposes a power integrity control technique for dynamically controlling power supply voltage fluctuations for a device under test (DUT). The proposed method controls the power supply voltage on an automatic test equipment (ATE) system in a feed-forward manner by supplying a compensation current into the power supply line based on the power supply voltage waveform difference between the ATE and the customer operational environment of the DUT. A method is described for calculating the compensation current from an impulse response of the device power supply network in the ATE and a target power supply voltage waveform. Experimental results with a prototype circuit are demonstrated to confirm the proposed concept. Limitations and applications of the proposed method are also discussed.

Real-time photoacoustic imaging system for clinical burn diagnosis

Summary We have developed a real-time (8~30 fps) photoacoustic (PA) imaging system with a linear-array transducer for burn diagnosis. In this system, PA signals originating from blood in the noninjured tissue layer located under the injured tissue layer are detected. The phantom study showed that thin light absorbers embedded in the tissue-mimicking scattering medium at depths of > 3 mm can be imaged with high contrast. The diagnostic experiments using rat burn models showed good agreements between the injury depths (zones of stasis) indicated by PA imaging and those by histological analysis. These results demonstrate the potential usefulness of the present system for clinical burn diagnosis.

Low Cost Test Method for RF Communication Devices Using Equivalent EVM Approach

Summary Since recent mobile terminals, i.e. smart phones and tablet PCs, support multiple communication standards, the tests for the standards installed on the terminals are required for the wireless communication LSIs. Among the various standardized tests, an Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) especially requires a complex standardized waveform and signal analysis algorithm, and this causes a long test development time and the test time itself. In this paper, we propose an Equivalent EVM test method, which does not require any standardized waveforms but a simple waveform. The EVMs for multiple communication standards can be calculated by a unique algorithm, which uses a single measurement data. Since it performs a channel correction particular to each standard, the EVM values equal the standardized measurement results. The validity of this method is confirmed using an actual wireless transceiver on the T2000.

A slim column cell of 12nm resolution for wider application of E-beam lithography

Summary The authors designed novel electron beam slim column cells that have the outer diameters of 60mm and 40mm in width for an Ebeam exposure of patterns down to 12nm and below. The column has maximum magnetic flux density of less than 2.2Tesla in the pole-piece of objective lens. No magnetic saturation occurs in the lens. The 12-88% blur at shaped beam edges through the column is better than 12nm to expose 12nm 1:1 LS patterns. Calorific power by lens coil of the column is smaller than 200watt. This slim column cell of high resolution and small size will provide various types of electron beam exposure systems with single or multiple exposure columns.

Summary In order to draw a thin line using an ink-jet method, it is necessary to control a spread caused by wettability of base material after impact. In this study,by modeling the state of the actual drawing using a thermal fluid analysis by the finite element method, it was possible to understand the operation of the spread of the ink. It caused possible to derive important temperature conditions to achieve the thin line drawn by using a laser-assisted method by it.

Summary Multi-domain test is a novel test strategy to reduce the Cost of Test (COT). This strategy involves the uniquely enhanced multiinsertion concurrent test. This strategy can efficiently utilize tester resources in the same way as a concurrent test, but without any DFT (Design For Testability) implementation on the DUT side. It can also simplify the load board circuits associated with multi-site test.
