For two days on September 21st and 22nd, the Advantest Group participated in tree thinning and deadwood cleaning at the Yasuragi-no-Mori forest in the town of Kusatsu in Gunma Prefecture.
What the Advantest Group joined was called the “Yasuragi-no-Mori Conservation and Maintenance Project”, sponsored by the Forestry Agency. When forests are left natural without any maintenance, the growing trees would start to overextend their branches and leaves, overlap themselves on top of each other, and eventually prevent the further growth of the individual trees. Proper tree removal by humans can help the remaining trees receive enough sunlight and spread their roots deep into the ground.
Twenty-two employees from our company volunteered to participate in this project. They worked hard by following the instructions given by the staff of the Agatsuma Regional Forest Office. When they completed their tasks, the project was finished off by setting up the plate with the names of the participants and the trees engraved and the signboard with the name “Advantest” written. This marked the completion of the Forest of Advantest.
The Advantest Group will continue to carry out the forest conservation activities to help the recovery of healthy forests in the future.
